Why get the bundle
- Naming-part practice sits in the Grade 1 collection beside telling-part, a-an and compound words, so sentence structure builds step by step.
The problem
Which part of the sentence is who or what?
First graders say full sentences, but pointing to the naming part means splitting a sentence into two halves. That is a new way of looking at words.
Stopping at the noun
'The brown puppy chased the red ball.' A child circles 'puppy' and misses 'The brown.' The naming part is the whole group.
Mixing up the two halves
Kids select 'chased the red ball.' The doing part and the naming part blur together.
Longer naming parts
'My little sister' and 'The tall giraffe' have more than one word. Children need to see the full group.
Each sentence is shown whole, and the child picks the group of words that tells who or what the sentence is about, including its describing words.
