Why get the bundle
- Facts to 20 take real repetition. Cards, games and bingo let children see these sums many times without the work feeling like one long page.
The problem
8 + 5 is where counting breaks down
Once a sum crosses 10, finger counting runs out. Children need a way to see the ten inside the problem.
Crossing ten
8 + 5 means 8 + 2 first, then 3 more. Without that idea, children count on from 8 and often end on 12 or 14.
Counting on by ones
Counting forward 7 steps is slow, and one skipped number gives a wrong answer that looks fine.
Doubles and near doubles
Facts like 6 + 6 and 6 + 7 are easy to learn but easy to overlook, so children count them out each time.
Problems go to 20 so children meet the crossing-ten cases directly. The facts invite make-ten and doubles, and the answers can be checked.

Add to 20 by making a ten
Break one number to build ten, then add the rest.
- 4 + 6 = 10
- 5 + 4 = 9
- 1 + 3 = 4
- 7 + 8 = 15
- 4 + 15 = 19
- 4 + 14 = 18
- 7 + 10 = 17

Who it’s for
Built for the kitchen table and the classroom.
Parents & homeschool
Put ten counters in a ten frame or egg carton, and show how 8 + 5 fills the frame first. Then your child tries 9 + 4 alone.
Teachers
Fits a first-grade unit on strategies. Use the cards for centers and the check pages to see who needs make-ten reteaching.
Intervention & tutors
The crossing-ten facts are the likely gaps. These pages let you target them without repeating easy sums.

Questions
Before you buy.
Does this only cover crossing ten?
No. It also includes easy sums that stay under 10 and doubles, so children build confidence before the harder ones.
What strategy does it teach?
The sets support making ten, counting on and doubles. Choose the move that fits your child; the problems work with any of them.
How do I get the file?
The download link appears right after checkout and lands in your inbox at the same time. One PDF with 13 pages. No account needed.
Can I print it more than once?

Will it print in color?
The pages are designed to print in black and white, so they print clean on any home or school printer and do not eat a cartridge.
